The City of Mound is located on the Western shores of Lake Minnetonka, approximately 20 miles from Minneapolis. Lake Minnetonka is over 14,000 acres, and is Minnesota’s ninth largest lake. Other lakes in Mound include: Black Lake, Dutch Lake, Lake Langdon, Saunders Lake, and Seton Lake. Mound also has 32 parks, 311 public dock sites, skate park, and the Dakota Rail Trail-a hard surface biking and walking trail that extends 21.3 miles from Wayzata to Mayer.

Mound was named “Minnesota’s Best Place to Raise Your Kids 2012” by Bloomberg Businessweek, and while close to all the attractions and events of the metropolitan area, Mound has that quaint hometown atmosphere.
